Issues with Nokia N900
I have a NOKIA N900 for past 5 Months and am facing issues from day one. I am really getting feed up with this Nokia N900. I feel if the issue is with the phone or with T Mobile. I had this phone replaced from Nokia Service center and was hoping that the replaced phone set works. Both the older set and the replaced ones have got the same issues. Now I really doubt if there is an issue with the phone or with T Mobile. Here is the list of issues that I am facing with Nokia N900.
1) Multiple Call drops: I am facing Call drops issues whenever I am on a move. I do not remember an instance when I was able to complete a call while travelling. 2) Signal Lost when I change orientation: On changing the display Orientation from Landscape to Portrait, I lose he signal bars and an error message displayes "No SIM card Inserted". 3) Multiple Reboot required for starting NOKIA N900: Never able to start Nokia N900 in a single attempt. 4) Nokia N900 shuts down on its own whenever I am surfing Internet. This issue has started to happen recently. Please do let me know what I should do now. I am running out of options. Please help me out. |

What firmware are you on?

Re: Issues with Nokia N900
From 1 to 3 its more like an issue with operator than N900 itself. Did you try to put that SIM into another phone?
4. Possible hardware issue , did they told you what kind of a device you're getting? maybe its was a refurbished one? |
Re: Issues with Nokia N900
yes, I tried the SIM in My touch 3G whihc is supported by T- Mobile and it worked fine
They never said me on wheher they are sending me a refurbished device or a new one |

Re: Issues with Nokia N900
@sandyn900:
I think you have a bad handset or simcard issue there - mine does none of these things. In fact, the 'phone quality is amongst the best I have experienced in terms of signal quality & reliability. My N900 will find and hold signal when other device fail and only crashes if I over-indulge in software from the higher repositories. I don't know where you live, but in the UK I'd buy another carrier's Pay As You Go SIM, lock the radio to GSM and see what happens.Or you could try swapping SIMs with a friend's phone. If it's not the SIM take it back to the retailer and say you want a replacement handset as the fault is intermittent and renders the handset unsuitable for sale. Check your retail law on the is one; in UK goods have to be 'fit for purpose'. Looking forward, your N900 should be delivering excellent service. I took a while to understand and appreciate mine and still envy some features on other phones but have come to the conclusion that most 'competitor' devices are loaded with superficial 'bling' to appeal to the masses. N900 is still the most advanced pocket computer/phone 'converged device' available and will enjoy the support of this community for years to come. No other device can deliver as much |
Re: Issues with Nokia N900
Sounds like the SIM could be at fault, is it an old SIM?
If you are loosing signal when rotatine the phone, it could be contamination of the metal contacts on the SIM, clean them with a pencil eraser and try again. Try someone elses SIM or ask your operator for a replacement SIM. |
