Alarm Maemo from OVI Store

A new app is downloadable from OVI Store for the Nokia N900.

It's Alarm Maemo, more details here: http://store.ovi.com/content/36033

It's a very simple (and useless) alarm: you can activate a motion sensor induced alarm, and when someone move your phone it starts to sound like crazy. You can stop the alarm writing your PIN in the blocked screen.

OR, simply press ctrl+backspace and close the app without entering any PIN code... WTF :confused::confused:

Just another useless app.

It could be useful but needs improvements.
One thing it needs to be able to is work but it doesn't

If you are paranoid you can glue your N900 to your bedroom door and activate the alarm. This way nobody can attack you while you are asleep.

oh come on. it's unlikely that somebody who'd steal your N900 would know how to do that task switching thingie... let alone think of it once the allarm goes off.

it's not a 100% safe protection, but it's OK.

Well, I have installed Shortcutd too, so it's not as simple as you described it. The thief has just to accidentally pass his hands above the proximity sensor, or press the camera button, in order to call the background and seeing the big X for closing the alarm.

So maybe yes, if you have not Shortcutd the thief has only a 10/20% probabilities to know how to stop the alarm, but if you have it, it's almost sure that you will never see your N900 again.

And no, that is not ok.

No then go and write them an email and complain that the free application you just installed does not behave as you want when another application is installed and active at the same time.

you should get a refund.

really.

they should take your rights as a consumer seriusly.

Looking at the first review that's more of a showoff rant by someone trying to look too smart is a real turnoff.

This is why we can't have nice things.
