UI Upgrades Needed
 

Hello,

Taking general User Interface Design into consideration I believe that the experience of the N900 would be more efficient with the following upgrades as something I would like to look forward to in PR Next.

- Scalable Shortcut Sizes on the Desktop
Pretty simple. A small icon button sometimes is too small for quick use. To be able to scale this to a larger size seems standard.

- Application Folders
Categorise does this well, but if it was done natively and you could organise it yourself would be much nicer.

- Larger Windows X Icons
When you're in the "Tabs Switching" phase, having a large X Symbol on a window would be nice.

- Virtual Keyboard available on Contacts Page
Self Explanitory

- Delete All Conversations Button
Currently you have to Press Ctrl + A to select them all. As UI standards this isn't really appropriate.

- Conversations "New SMS / New IM" buttons
These buttons should scroll with the Conversations tab


What else would you all like to see?

the only way that this kind of petition can do something, is by filling the corresponding brainstorm and bugs.maemo.org bugfile

if not, its more an off-topic thread than an n900 one

i would love to see a keyboard on the contacts screen.

Something i could use with one hand address book by name search in portrait mode (typing on the keyboard works great. but requires 2 hands) scrolling through 400 contacts is not fun no matter how nice it scrolls.

my biggest UI gripe is no optimization for single handed use.
if I were to design this UI one challenge would be to keep buttons in the same place in port rate and landscape mode but just orient the visual info.

In the media player i would have the progress bar the full length of the screen so you could more accurately pick a place to start playing.

I am constructing a complete new MeeGo UI from scratch.
I've already finished the entire design by sketches and transferred these into wordpad.
I've drawn 50% of the concept with Paint to illustrate the concept.
I've just realized their is more things I need to add to my design instead of publishing them to several sources, I've decided to continue on these.
One of these is a portrait view for phones, but this causes a big challenge due to the issue of Multitasking.

The whole concept is a whole, very intuitive (where you find things at the first expected places) unlike Snow Leopard and categorizes things to you in the easiest form.

I've designed the concept touch(friendly)based (but mouse/keyboard are very encouraged), multitasking is at its heart and is meshed around full-blown desktop Linux OS. It's aimed at devices with a min. of 4" (800x480) to larger touch devices like 14" (1366x768). It can be scaled beautifully to 50" TV screens.

I dont thin brainstorm will actually help. There was a time where I thought my involvment could actually change something. Ispent some time for 3 brainstorm ideas which (at least I think so) would have been easy to implement by Nokia and would have been great improvement.

Now I actually think that Nokia is not taking notice of brainstorms.

You can vote for my ideas anyhow since 2 out of my 3 are absolutely relates to this thread.
