THINGS IT FIXED (for me)

I noticed right away that the problem with my directories being doubled and tripled was gone!!!

email accounts started to work again

seems to be a bit snappier

Fix the prob about not being able to scroll through media by typing in words


THINGS IT DID NOT FIX (for me)

n900 doesn't play videos it recorded! LMFAO

still takes for ever to scroll through images

camera still shoots hazy quality pics.


how did it work for the rest of you?

The Good:
- definitely snappier
- access photos much faster
- contacts with sms-only button for mobiles
- love love love the new Ovi Maps

The Ugly:
- not all attachments come through on emails
- wish for an easier, more permanent way to merge contacts

So I am happy. I am sure there a ton of behind-the-scenes stuff, but I am pleased. And with the recent overclock I am overjoyed!

There is an app in extras or devel, that adds an "search for duplicated contacts" button to the contacts menu. Not the ultimate solution, but quite neat.

The BIG thing the update did is make the rootfs problem almost completely go away.

I just wish I could get it. Every time I try to update I keep getting not enough space message when I have 1.7 gb avl for applications.

Probably you don't have enough rootfs space, which only takes 45 or so mb. There is a wiki article about how to free up rootfs space, but you might be able to solve it by disabling your extras-devel and extras-testing catalogs in App Mgr.

An alternative is to flash the new firmware (be sure to back up first). There are many threads about how to solve this problem. It is unfortunate that this process can have as many pitfalls at it does. It's fundamentally quite easy, but understanding what you need to do exactly isn't as easy as it should be.

Not Fix:

No portrait SMS.
Media player widget play button still does not work.
Media player still stutters.
Bluetooth still does not connect to car audio system.
Apps now take LONG time to open or close.
No bookmark organization.
Calendar automatically assigns alarm to new events.
Battery drain still hit or miss with no apps running.
Media player does not recognize media on memory card and is constantly updating media list.
Cannot turn off backlight time-out.

Fix:

Duplicate folder structure in file manager.
Ovi maps update.
Additional camera resolutions.
No SMS to landline option.
Skype video call.
Portrait browser mode.
Long key press for symbols/numbers.
Did not recognize documents in document folder, only download folder.
