What's the difference between recorder maemo-recorder and recaller
Hi everyone.
I would like to know what's the difference between these 3 applications: - recorder - maemo-recorder - recaller Thanks. |
Re: What's the difference between recorder maemo-recorder and recaller
As was as I know, recorder / maemo-recroder will help you to record any voice.
recaller - helps you to record your phone conversations, automatically if you choose so. Also can be used to record stanalone recordings like the previous ones. It works good. I set it to record on the 16GB external memory card (apart from phone memory). To setup recaller, use the stylus, click on the wrench symbol in the desktop menu mode. |

Thanks phalguna, and difference between recorder and maemo-recorder??
I know that with "recorder" i was able to record the whole course at school. approx: 2h course = 270mb and i recorder 4-5 course everyday. It's a dictaphone. And what about maemo-recorder? why it have "maemo" in it's name? |

Wappinger, you are welcome!
Did you try using the "AAC" format with "Recaller". AAC format will not take that much file size compared to WAV format; I had a 1 hr call and the file size is 56MB. Please try AAC format and see if you are OK with the sound quality of recordings. Just FYI I am another N900 user like you. To my knowledge both recorder and maemo-recorder are the same, except version different; recorder sounds to be the latest to me. maemo-recorder might be a development version; Not sure, I might be wrong :). |

Recaller could also be called Rec-all er :-) If you have it, I see no need for the others anymore. You can really record "everything" with it:
- In Dictaphone mode, it captures the sounds of the microphone (and the system), same as (maemo)recorder. - In System mode, it only captures audio produced by the device (no mic input). This is handy to record e.g. FM radio or Internet radio or even Video audio (CPU might be the limit :-) - If auto-recording is enabled, it will record each call, automatically switching to mic/phone or bluetooth recording (depending if a BT handsfree device is connected) - You can switch between different encoding formats such as WAV and AAC, depending on your needs (e.g. AAC makes smaller files, but uses more CPU/power). |
