Application to explore/copy ect. files via bluetooth?
Hello all!
Today my friend had a song on her moto cliq that I wanted to copy via bluetooth. We eventually sent it over email but my question is if there is or if it is possible to make an application like Bluetooth File Transfer OBEX FTP v1.20 which i used on my sony ericssons to browse the contents of my friends phones to give and get files (I used to copy J2me apps to my friends blackberry then add music for him since he is scared of limewire and he isnt very tech savvy). I was thinking this could be an added feature in the app. BlueMaemo. Any replies would be great! Thanks -Tyler |
Re: Application to explore/copy ect. files via bluetooth?
You can send and receive files over bluetooth out of the box on the N900. To send a file, go to the file manager and tap the file you want to send and select "share" (this is the translation from my german N900), select "send via bluetooth" and the device you would like to send the file to. For receiving files on the N900 you only have to make sure, that bluetooth is turned on in the first place.
Edit: This applies to PR1.2. If you are on a previous version, you could update to PR1.2 or use the standalone app "Petrovich", which works similarly to what I have described above. Edit2: Sorry, after rereading your posting, I guess my answer is not really adequate, because you seem to search for a possibility to browse the filesystem or a shared folder of the other phone. |

Re: Application to explore/copy ect. files via bluetooth?
I emailed medieval and they said they bought a n900 just to develop it and then they stopped for some reason and the project is now trashed plus any future development will not be done at the time

Re: Application to explore/copy ect. files via bluetooth?
I would really love an app like this. Push is nice, but OBEX based FTP would be better in some situations. You may be able to get the bluez obex compiled stuff for arm architecture off of a generic repository and try it on command line? It's just a protocol on top of bluez, not a driver level thing, so it may work.

You might search on debian repositories and test in easy debian.

well.. what is the protocol for getting aps made here on maemo.org. i mean these gusy have been supplying all the apps for us so far so why even bother to wait on medieval or nokia or who ever to come up with a app for it. i say get it started here in the community.
