bluetooth drivers for the n900 and win7
i seem to be having a bluetooth challenge in not getting all the drivers.
on my desktop (win 7/64bit) i am connected and can transfer files just fine. it took a while but finally all the drivers kicked in after a number of attempts. however, on my booklet 3g, win7/32bit, i cannot send files from my n900 to my booklet, only FROM my booklet. seems no matter what i do i cannot get my booklet to load the additional drivers. in lookin on my phone in the bluetooth settings between what is different: on my desktop connection under supported profies: a2dp, ftp, hsp, opp and on my booklet connection under supprted profies: *blank* so i think the issue is obvious there. but i dont understand why the phone is not sending the bluetooth drivers or the booklet is not being able to find the drivers to make my transfers work correctly. i have tried going to broadcom and downloading the latest driver package (did this for my desktop) but when i launch it, it doesnt even find my bluetooth adapter in my booklet, says to turn it on, but no matter what i do, (it is on) it will not recognize it to move on... anyone know how to get this fixed? |

Is this a HP or a Toshiba? Look in bios for BT enable.

Re: bluetooth drivers for the n900 and win7
Known problem for a lot of folks. The drivers are not available when the Nokia installs on the PC. You'll get 4 or 5 driver errors and that's probably where this problem lies.

Broadcom drivers will only work if your BT adapter is based one one of their chips (I guess that's fair enough). The whole purpose of BT's profiles is to make the functionality independent of what devices you might have on the other end; ie: you could have an N900 or another phone, it shouldn't matter to your laptop, so long as it knows how to speak the given profiles. The BT dongle/adapter's manufacturer, not that of the target device, should provide support of the BT profiles. In other words, your next step would be to find who the manufacturer of your BT dongle/adapter's chip is and check their Website for software that will support the necessary profiles. If they don't seem to have that, you could always buy a driver from a 3rd party vendor such as Bluesoleil. Do check that your BT adapter's chipset is supported first. HTH |
