Willing to help mentor Maemo/MeeGo developers in Qt and more? See the Developer Engagement proposal
I'm looking for skilled people to help out at this stage, not quite ready for people wanting to learn - but soon.
If you're interested in volunteering, please see: http://lists.meego.com/pipermail/mee...ne/001066.html and http://wiki.meego.com/DeveloperEngagement |

2 things that would be very useful:
- material that works for both Maemo and MeeGo; - text that describes migration paths from Maemo to MeeGo |

I signed myself up to your list.
My main area would be to help .NET developers getting started in Qt. I have seen many of them on this forum, most of whom were distracted by the (lack of) proper tooling at the time. |

Thanks Venemo. As a VB.Net programmer I should have thought to mention that one! D'oh.

I have been planning to launch a dev blog for some time, and I also wish to write Qt tutorials in it - among other topics. (I will try to make it enrolled in the Maemo.org RSS, too... :p) |

Most Qt material that isn't using Maemo5 specific API (QMaemo5ProgressIndicator for example) should continue to function equally well under MeeGo, so that is fairly well addressed. I do think there will be a need for documentation on how to transform Maemo5-specific API into something that works with MeeGo, though, so perhaps that's an area that needs attention. |

3 volunteers so far. No more takers?
This could be a good way to get yourself involved and get noticed. :) |

Get noticed? *whooooosh!!!* <--- developer ego kicking in ;)
Kidding aside, this sounds rather interesting, and looking at how helpful people are on these forums already, I'd say this might turn out pretty well. But talking about this forum: Do you plan to make the forum-related stuff in the Meego section here at Maemo Talk or will this be over at the Meego forums? Just asking because I know I'm terrible at being active in more than one community at the same time. But no matter where, I'd really like to be of help as much as I can. Probably wouldn't be able to help on the classes thanks to the language barrier, but both the "big geeky brother" and the tutorials sound like just my cup of tea. I'm rather new to Python and PyQt (*cough*a week*cough*), but a long background in Java development made me feel more like coming home again - despite the difference in language, I found that many of the concepts (especially the more complex ones) take the same line, so I'm positive I won't stay a complete beginner for that long. :D Also, I'm a former web developer, so I could help both with "the other end of the line" of distributed applications and with the styles part of Qt. I'm easily distracted and sometimes lack the creativity to come up with good tutorial topics, but as long as you can provide me with a good kick in the pants from time to time (and can deal with my hyperactive personality) I'm your man... ;) |

Not to speak for w00t, but I think it would make the most sense to have the bulk of the discussion and material at meego.com, and dive in here now and then with critical updates (and bumps).
