Skype green icon problem
 

Hi.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that the green icon that pops out near you contacts picture. doesn't always show up when you connect to skype. is anyone else having this problem?

sometimes you need to wait 15minutes for the icon to pop out and sometimes i need to restart to get it to work.

Yes, I'm also noticing that. I did not pinpoint exactly under which circumstances this happens.

I've also seen that status is not update properly, i.e. if a contact signs-off from Skype, its green icon remains green for a certain length of time before appearing off-line

Okey i think this is a bug and i hope this will be fixed and am also getting the same problem that you just said.

I believe the status of your contacts come from the skype servers, so it's not a problem on the N900 as such. Probably the best thing you could do is fire off an email to skype and describe the issue.

I have seen this also few times with skype and gtalk. It gets fixed if I disable skype and gtalk accounts and then activate them again. Some times green icon is also shown when I have already went offline for all IM accounts. I think that this is definitely bug in N900 and not with skype or gtalk service.

I don't have any details why this happens so I haven't yet filled a bug for this in bugs.maemo.org but maybe this should be filled anyway so that all information on this issues is gathered in one place. Bug https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8475 might be related to this problem.

At first I thought:
"Every time I use Bluetooth (I use bluezwitch or FM Radio to swich Bluetooth on or off), from then on the Skype status of my contacts is no longer shown. Must restart to get it back."
But that's not it. Must have coincided with logging out of Skype and starting listening to the radio. After logging into Skype it takes a while before statuses are being shown properly again.
