QT Creator 2.0.0 Released.
QT Creator 2.0.0 is released today.
http://qt.nokia.com/downloads. Well, ok, looks like it was actually released yesterday, but there it is. So that brings up the question, is it much better to use QT Creator or the Maemo SDK.. The Maemo SDK from what I have tested, seems to be much easier if you're just doing a port from a Debian package, whereas the future would seem to lie in using the QT SDK. slaapliedje |

Re: QT Creator 2.0.0 Released.
Well, here's what I've found from looking...
QT Creator supports doing a build for MeeGo / Maemo 5. Maemo 5 SDK Supports building for Maemo (whether ARM or x86). The Maemo 5 SDK uses scratchbox, not sure what QT Creator uses. Maemo 5 SDK supports GTK, or probably even QT (not 100% sure about this) and is more like a virtual machine. QT Creator is more like a standard IDE, just with build capabilities for MeeGo / Maemo. The problem is, from a very brief googling, it looks like QT Creator is mainly for C++ development, and I'm just now trying to cut my teeth on Python. While not really mutually exclusive (certainly you could develop using both) I'm wondering what would be EASIER for a beginner developer. slaapliedje |

Re: QT Creator 2.0.0 Released.
For somebody just starting out, QT Creator is the ONLY choice. There's no point in spending days on end trying to figure out the shitpile that is scratchbox development.
If you're already a linux guru then chances are you'll prefer the scratchbox environment. Not that its better, its just that you'll already be used to dealing with all of linux's pains in the *** to the point that you probably don't think something is worth using unless its a pain in the ***. |

Also Nokia Qt SDK 1.0(Qt Creator + some additional components preinstalled) was released today.

Then I looked at the compile output and it creates the entire debian package within QT Creator! Development is really going to kick off now. QT Creator is the ultimate tool. |

That's fantastic news! Now if I can just get python to play happy with it.
