Push Tech

Is there anyway to push information from a web service to a maemo device something similar to RIM push technology?

Is there a plan to implement it in the future?

Is there anything available now that I could use in its place?

Many thanks

Charles

Re: Push Tech

there is sms push and wap push

not sure to what degree n900 supports either, but the mms notifications come in as sms push I think. Also, when you activate your sim, most carriers send a push sms with network configs.

you will need either an sms service that supports these type of sms or there are also server systems that support OMA DM(Open Mobile alliance device management)

you can use a clickatell account for push sms

their api is pretty nice and they provide examples for most any language your web service speaks
