Why no Isilo version for N8xx?
 

Will we never get an Isilo release for our N8XX devices?

They seem to support everyone else's devices.

This format is not supported. Actually there are two kinds of iSilo format: old one and new one (iSiloX). Old format is open however, to the best of our knowledge, currently it is practically not used at all. On the other hand iSiloX is a proprietary format, so as result it cannot be supported in FBReader.

Not exactly a reply to what you're asking but interesting nevertheless.

I have been using Isilo on my N810 practically every day for the past 6 months.You need to install Garnet VM which is a Palm emulator for N8XX.Then download Isilo trial version for Palm.This has worked for me without any problems.

@Jeff: how do you install the trial version? Do you simply extract the downloaded file into a file folder at N810 and then install from there? Would you post the link for the trial version of isilo for Palm? I went to their site recently; but had trouble locating the trial version.

It is not a trial version as such,just gives you a 30 day trial with the option to buy after 30 days.

Download it to your N800 directly or save it on computer and usb to anywhere on the N800 (just remember where!)
Run Garnet VM and use the Install button.Locate Isilo prc where you saved it.That should be it.

Thank you for your reply. By the way, can I assume that you are running the latest beta6 version of the Garnet VM?

Yes it is the latest version.These seem to expire every 6 months,but Garnet are still providing updates thankfully.
You will notice that the emulator has a small memory allocation - too small for many applications and data storage.Some clever members found a workaround for this

Go to post 29 - Open Xterminal and type what is in the box under 'Code'

The external SD card will now be recognised by Garnet VM so no more memory store restrictions.
