Re: $85 or $107 competitor?
They're definitely cheap. Really cheap. But the hardware specs seem to be really poor, and I wonder how usable these devices are.
266-300Mhz ARM, 128MB RAM, 2GB Flash ... I guess you get what you pay for. These specs are in the same ballpark as the Nokia 770, but in a bigger, heavier package and without the touch screen. I don't think I can find much use for such machine. I'd rather pay 2x-3x as much for a proper netbook. |
Re: $85 or $107 competitor?
impressive pricing, but having a much more compact and mobile device is always better, plus n900 beats their performance +size ratio

Re: $85 or $107 competitor?
Well, 128 MB ram is a little bit tough. How about this one, 8" Touch Screen TFT LCD Google Android 1.6 Tablet PC w/ WiFi - White (533MHz)
http://www.dealextreme.com/feedbacks...s.dx/sku.39448, touch screen! More, M001 7" Touch Screen TFT LCD Google Android 1.6 Tablet PC w/ WiFi (VIA MW8505/600MHz), http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.39169; less than $100 :) Why this Android tablet are all 128 MB RAM? Does it look small or it is about right if thinking about /rootfs in the maemo platform? bun |
Re: $85 or $107 competitor?

Re: $85 or $107 competitor?
Good find overfloat. Some reviews about that toy:
"the little usb addon adapter is pretty neat. you can plug in a keyboard and mouse into it. You can also connect via ethernet if your staying at a hotel that only provides ethernet internet. it has a built in microphone. the camera on it is just a standard camera. i was told it was a webcam but MEH highly doubting that. it has a program that you use just to take pictures with it and thats all. ALSO it wont let you take pictures UNLESS you have a micro sd card in the slot." and "One thing i might add is that google maps runs AMAZING on this thing. For anyone who wants to know. I was very impressed with how smooth it was. It is definitely not a bad device for the price if your looking for a wifi, email, web browsing, youtubing, and google maps device. battery life is about 2 hours at BEST i dont know i didnt exactly time it but i would guess that if i turned everything down it would last that long." Resolution is only 800 X 480, same as my 3.5" N900 :( , Yes, I am looking for a cheap toy..., just look, maybe get one if impulse. I think this is a better buy than those old outdated stuff sold in ebay. bun |
Re: $85 or $107 competitor?
How does this one measure up to N810 as ebay is now selling for about $120?
i.e. is a possible dead end android 1.6 'better' than a maemo 4, N810? bun |
Re: $85 or $107 competitor?
The Eken M001 has a pretty active community here it seems, with custom roms and whatnot(it might be worth taking into account for): http://www.slatedroid.com/vbulletin/...hp?5-Eken-M001
