Upgrading N800 on Mac OS X
I've just successfully upgraded the N800 to the v3 firmware
(2007 version 3.2007.10-7) so I thought I'd share what I did. 1) download RX-34_2007SE_3.2007.10-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin from the Maemo site 2) download flasher-2.0.macosx 3) do a backup on board the N800, and then turn off and remove the memory cards. 4) roughly following the instructions in http://maemo.org/maemowiki/HOWTO_Fla...mageWithMacOSX I got the following in my Terminal window: +++++++++ mac-mini:~ chris$ /Users/chris/Downloads/flasher-2.0.macosx -F /Users/chris/Downloads/RX-34_2007SE_3.2007.10-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R flasher v0.8.1 (Jun 22 2006) SW version in image: RX-34_2007SE_3.2007.10-7_PR_MR0 Image 'kernel', size 1311104 bytes Version 2.6.18-200710osso2 Image 'initfs', size 1689216 bytes Version 0.93-40 Image 'rootfs', size 83886080 bytes Version RX-34_2007SE_3.2007.10-7_PR_MR0 Image '2nd', size 8064 bytes Valid for RX-34: 1301, 1302 Version 1.1.5-3 Image 'xloader', size 9088 bytes Valid for RX-34: 1301, 1302 Version 1.1.5-3 Image 'secondary', size 95872 bytes Valid for RX-34: 1301, 1302 Version 1.1.5-3 USB device found found at bus 002, device address 006-0421-0105-02-00 Found device RX-34, hardware revision 1301 NOLO version 1.1.3 Version of 'sw-release': RX-34_2007SE_2.2006.51-6_PR_MR0 Sending xloader image (8 kB)... 100% (8 of 8 kB, avg. 591 kB/s) Sending secondary image (93 kB)... 100% (93 of 93 kB, avg. 835 kB/s) Flashing bootloader... done. Re: Upgrading N800 on Mac OS X
Update: re-downloaded the FM Radio, and it's picked up the previous saved radio stations, so it looks like my settings were saved even if the application wasn't

Re: Upgrading N800 on Mac OS X
SDHC update :
I installed the SDHC update sdhc-kernel-3.2007.10 on my n800 using flasher-2.0.macosx on a PowerBook G4 running Tiger Mac OSX. The n800 had previously been updated to 3.2007.10 using the Windows flasher on a borrowed PC. The Mac OSX terminal session is listed below. I attempted to rename a class 6 Kingston 8GB SDHC card using the memory control panel. A "corrupted" error message was produced. On formatting the card using the memory control panel - the card capacity reduced from 7.52 GB to 2GB - "fat 16". On formatting the 8 GB SDHC card in the n800 using the Mac OSX Disk Utility and "Windows format" ( Fat 32 ) the card capacity returned to 7.52 GB. I could rename the card using Disk Utility - but the n800 still used the default "internal memory" and " replaceable external memory" names. I transferred 300 MB of files OK to 8GB Kingston SDHC cards in the internal and external slots. As yet no test of capacity beyond 2GB. Seems OK. Questions : Anyone working on a flasher-3.0.macosx ? Anyone working on a flasher for Intel based Macs ? ============================================== alexander-hardies-powerbook-g4-15:~ alexanderhardie$ cd Nokia_n800_sdhc_kernel_update alexander-hardies-powerbook-g4-15:~/Nokia_n800_sdhc_kernel_update alexanderhardie$ chmod +x sdhc-kernel-3.2007.10.bin alexander-hardies-powerbook-g4-15:~/Nokia_n800_sdhc_kernel_update alexanderhardie$ ls -l total 2960 -rwxrwxrwx 1 alexande alexande 193820 Aug 14 2006 flasher-2.0.macosx -rwxr-xr-x 1 alexande alexande 1315816 Mar 31 01:16 sdhc-kernel-3.2007.10.bin alexander-hardies-powerbook-g4-15:~/Nokia_n800_sdhc_kernel_update alexanderhardie$ sudo ./flasher-2.0.macosx -f -k ./sdhc-kernel-3.2007.10.bin WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss or the deletion of important system files.
