how to log into facebook on the phone?
 

maybe a stupid question but, how do you log in to facebook, so that it grabs your contacts on an n900.

i have tried through the "availability" button in the top menu, but that is for facebook chat and asks for a user name that cannot work (as my name has a space) and the email address cannot work either (as it is looking for xxxxxxx@facebook-chat.com).

so where am i going wrong?

have u added a new account in the voip and im accounts section in settings? if u add a jabber account, which I believe you can get your user name from facebook settings, (cant say exactly where as Im at work now) but then add that something like
blahblah@chat.facebook.com

Edit: I think account (top right) then account setting and I believe the user name...

so

username@chat.facebook.com?

hmmm, cheers i have found my facebook username in the facebook settings, but the phone won't login due to incorrect username/password.

where does jabber come into this?

You don't need to use jabber if your N900 has been updated to PR1.2. It has Facebook chat built in.

Sorry but facebook is a constant malfunction after malfunction after malfunction on the N900. I would have started a new thread but there is no "new topic" or "new thread" link on this page. Why is that? Such a simple thing that should be obvious and it is missing from this website. I don't have time to fish through your menus just to start a new topic. It should be obvious, simple and easy to activate.
Everytime I post on Facebok it is a race against time and me crossing my fingers that a malfunction will not occur while at the same time dealing with the constant wrong characters, missing spaces, delaying of what I just typed, zoom in and it acts as though I did not cuz I try to move the screen and I go off to some link that was there before I zoomed in. I mean every possible annoyance occurs that could possibly occur that can piss you off when using facebook on this N900.
If I post a pic and caption from my N900 on my lunch break I have to make sure it is a short sentence. Too many times I spend 8 minutes of my break time typing sh** and some sort of malfunction will occur erasing the last 8 minutes and sending me off to another page and I have not even touched the screen.
N900 and facebook barely works.

the facebook applet works fine, as does microB, but they ask for my email address rather than the username...........?

What facebook applet?

I'll just repeat what I said.
-Create username on facebook website
-Log out of facebook
-sign in with newly created username on facebook website
-sign into facebook chat on n900

That is what I did
