Need help... N900 won't boot
 

Kind Sirs,

My Nokia N900 keeps on showing the Nokia Logo (white background, Nokia name) and won't start... I've no experience in anything involving programs, apps... Please help...

You will need to reflash your phones firmware.

To do that please visit this page and have a read: Updating the tablet firmware

I would probably start out trying to flash the rootfs, if you still have trouble then flash both the rootfs and the emmc

If it won't boot all you can do is reflash.

Thanks. WIll it erase my contacts? and other files on it's internal memory?

Just flashing the rootfs won't affect the contacts or data files (though you will need to reinstall any applications). If you have to flash the eMMC as well, then you'll lose the contacts and anything on the internal memory.

Only an eMMC flash will erase your contacts...some of your app configurations might be lost (and of course you'll have to reinstall them).

In any case, do a backup first!

Yes that's PR1.2 global version. The global firmware can be used on any N900.

i have the same problem, black screen saying 'boot from internal flash', it counts down to reboot and then the nokia screen comes on, then it starts all over again

... but my pc wont detect the phone or suite so i cannot reflash the phone. Do i need to send back to nokia or is there any other way i can reflash it please?
