Location of phone with gps
I would like to be able to know current location of my phone.
When I cannot find it (is it in work, home, summerhouse,...), when somebody steals it from me (possibly hurting me in process),... there're plenty legal reasons for it. I imagine application, that will run on background and periodically report it's position to server or send it by email, etc. While it can be done python script,... There're of course many issues/options (how often report, go online if offline for more than hour, turn on gps if not on-gps for more than four hours, send position as email / fetch url on your server,...) to decide, but that's for discussion. |
Re: Location of phone with gps
There is already something for that, it's called "I am here".
Search up. |
Re: Location of phone with gps
But make sure you read the whole thread before making up your mind to install or not - the dev appears to have dropped to have dropped the app a while back. Bit of a shame because it had real promise.

If you don't mind playing with scripts, have a look at http://www.whereismydevice.com
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=51027 It ideally needs a little more work on the scripts, but the server side stuff is all there... |
Re: Location of phone with gps
I got scared by references on "I am here" - which was the point I guess :) - but I really like other two and as scripts are not issue for me, so I'll give try to both of them.
Thank you |
