Can't charge it anymore.

so i just broke my n900... :( i was charging it last night and forgot to take the charger off from the mini usb port... the after i woke up.. the small piece where u plug in the charger went off from the inside.. now its useless.. can i still use my warranty for it? but whati know is if you overclocked it.. it voids ur warranty.. any suggestion?? sell it?? get a new one?? wait for another device??

just de-install the kernel back to the standard one. Instruction is easy. Remove Tuxpaint, and Luxu if you have them installed. Connect to the net, and click on de-installation icon.

Obviously the USB didn't break off because of overclocking, so you should be covered as long as you do your best to cover your tracks.

Charge your battery to full -> using other battery or other phone. Battery from Nokia Nuron is compatible with Nokia N900.

Then you can put back your original kernel. (Hmm...do you need USB for this ???) otherwise forget my post :P

Got the same problem, almost. The usb-port is so loose that it can't get any type of connection anymore. Neither with a charger nor datacable. So I reverted to stock kernel (with these instructions) and sent it to repair via the seller. Hopefully they don't send me a bill of gazillion euros for the new part... :)

Re: Can't charge it anymore.

You can also buy a standalone charger (e.g. on eBay) to charge the battery if you need to get personal data off it before sending it in for repair. Also, you can use a N810 if you have one to charge the N900 battery (Charging a BL-5J (N900) battery in the N810).

Re: Can't charge it anymore.

My ex girlfriend's son just yanked my phone off the table about 2 weeks ago (6/25). The female part broke off on the inside.

Filed a repair claim the same day. Told them it broke while trying to remove the charger from the phone. Mailed it to them on the 29th.

Got an email saying a replacement was on its way on 7/2. It should be here by 7/9 because of the holiday weekend.

Point is, if you can get yourself a beater phone like I did in the interim then you should be able to hold out.
