Flashing, Please Help!
Hi All,
I know this has been discussed multiple times and I have been trying to fix this problem, (repeatedly followed to the T: http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_f..._does_it_do.3F AND http://www.maemofanatics.com/how-to-...ur-nokia-n900/ ) for the past three full days and most part of the nights -no exaggeration- without luck, I apologize for the repeat and lengthy thread, I hope you can help. Noticed my N900 (Safely; Stock with 1.2 & some apps..) was getting somewhat sluggish so I decided to "factory reset.." all went well until it rebooted and couldn't stop rebooting since!, BTW; now, once started and before entering time and date.., no problem but once that stage is passed the rebooting begins. So naturally, I decided to flash (tried via a Vista 64bit, Vista 32bit and XP, even through Virtual PC 2007/XP on Vista but realized that there was no support for USB...) I'm unable to verify whether any of these systems is actually recognizing the N900. On Vista 32 bit, in the Maemo Flasher window, text scans very quickly and return to; C:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5>...(I did disable the Driver Signing..) I would appreciate any input or assistance. I would only state the results via XP as it seems to be the preferred OS for flashing (not sure disabling the Driver Signing is necessary here): Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Re: Flashing, Please Help!
It says unknown argument. That means that something is wrong with the Flasher command you're inputting......
"flasher-3.5.exe -F imagename.bin -f -R" Try typing it up instead of copy pasting. and also remove -R. It only complicates things. |
Re: Flashing, Please Help!
Many thanks for your replies.
I'm trying both; "flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin -f –R" and "flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_2.2009.51-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f –R" Removed the "R" On Vistas 64bit with disabled driver signing, I get: "Image 'secondary', size 109440 bytes Valid for RX-51: 2601, 2602, 2603 Version 1.4.14.8+0m5 Suitable USB device not found, waiting." On Vista 32bit something different happened this time, all seemed to be working but in a second command window that came up by itself and scanned to the end stating flashing successful..., than disappeared BUT the N900 didn't restart on its own, any advise? |
Re: Flashing, Please Help!
The -R causes it to restart on its own, so if you remove it, it doesn't.
You seem to have reflashed successfully in the last paragraph. |
Re: Flashing, Please Help!
Thank..
I know, this is promising, two things are different, (A) at one point the phone's status light turned on "yellow" and stayed on. (B) I noticed, the actual flashing starts in a second command screen than it disapeares afterwards but the first, original window stays the same. That being said, the problem remains, the phone doesn't restart on its own and when I unplug it and turn it on, it keeps on rebooting. Tried re-adding the "R", the same thing would happen; new command window opens, scans in less than a second than nothing... I'm going slightly mad... |
Re: Flashing, Please Help!
Ok, it finally worked, many thanks for your help...
Critical aspects for success -in my case- were; A) Removing the "R" as geneven and Corso85 suggested. B) Having to flash the eMMC too BTW, is there a way to restore (contacts..) from microSD? Keep up the great support. TECHDUCK! |
Re: Flashing, Please Help!
Good day All,
After flashing my N900 two month ago, it worked just fine, until few days ago; occasionally some applications started shutting down on their own with few other glitches,,, and then the phone would restart, the white screen with NOKIA would come on for a while than shut off. Trying to flash again (using previous methode), software flashes well until I get to the point when I need to flash the eMMC; a new command window opens, scans in less than a second than nothing, I removed the "R" from the command line, I got; "suitable USB device not found, waiting..." and the USB logo disappears from the phone's screen, few minutes later I get; "raw data EP found at EP2" command screen starts to scan until the end at which point the zigzagging white dotes come on the phone's screen but they aren't moving (zigzagging..) just fixed. Nothing after that, I unplug the phone and remove the battery to restart, result: the same white screen with "NOKIA" than, shut down. Was wondering if any of you have had a similar experience, would appreciat any input. Othewise, what would be your suggestion for a better/best smartphone today please. Thanks, TD. |
