Application Manager giving problems...
Hey Guys,
since a few days my App. Manager is acting weird, its giving me a list of 8-10 third party apps from repos that need update, what's funny is I have the latest version installed, if I go ahead with the install it tells me the update was successful but then reappears after the refresh.. another issue is the app or plug in "extra protocol plugins for conversations and contacts and the people nearby plug in" never update .. in details, the status shows as :broken any idea? any help will be great :) Cheers Jackie |

Overall, I've found that AppMgr seems to many more hiccups since I upgraded to PR1.2 than before....very strange.... |
Re: Application Manager giving problems...
Hi Jackie, I would imagine there is definitely an error happening but one that is not really being picked up by the application manager.
To solve it you will need to open an x-terminal and type "root" (without the quotes - you will need to install the rootsh application first) Once you have the xterm open as root, type in: apt-get update followed by... apt-get upgrade Check closely for error messages and then post them here. The problems you are having with conversations can also be fixed, here's a post I prepared earlier: Fix Postinit Issue This may well fix all your other application install problems as well, give it a try first : ) Thanks. |
Re: Application Manager giving problems...
Application manager became very slow. Takes over a minute to get access to it.

Re: Application Manager giving problems...
OK after the first apt-get update I get the following error
GPG Error: http://repository.maemo.org fremantle release: 0BD maemo.org Extras Repositories (fremantle Extras) <repositories@maemo.org> W: you may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems.. I've just hit apt-get update again, will keep you posted, thanks ! EDIT: everything reappears again !! |
Re: Application Manager giving problems...
anyone?? anything? !!

Re: Application Manager giving problems...
I'd suggest disabling the "maemo.org" repository, exiting App Manager, then going back in and re-enabling it again. That'll force it to redownload all the metadata, some of which appears to be corrupt in your copy.

Re: Application Manager giving problems...
alright I'll try that !!
EDIT: wow I feel dumb, I should've tried that earlier ...has fixed it for now, but extras dev is not refreshing, I hope it doesn't reappear !! Cheers |
