Is this safe to buy? (Battery)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BNIP-GENUINE-N...item2eacb12465

Play.com has them for £24.99 as does Expansys. Are these plausibly-yet-cheaper priced fakes?

99% safe. BNIP = Buy new in Package. Normally fakes don't come in packages.

I wouldn't trust any 'branded' '100% Genuine' claims on batteries or memory cards for ebay. Don't get me wrong I may still buy them but I don't expect them to be genuine.

Batteries that actually harm your device are extremely rare, so I would say chances are one in ten thousand that it will ever hurt your N900 judging from the number of problems reported to this site.

Cant check the ebay link atm as work have blocked it, but you might want to check out the batteries on evertop.co.uk

I have used them many times and always been fine. Cheap too. A battery and desktop charger is less than £25 (which is also what i have got from them)

Yes - I saw that. The problem is of course that nowhere in the auction is the packaging shown.

I think I'll grab one from Expansys.
