Text editor with rectangular selection?

Are there any text editors for Maemo 5 which allow rectangular selection, aka column mode? See http://dave.thehorners.com/tech-talk...r-feature-ever for what that is if you're not sure. It would be very useful for some ad-hoc text manipulation I'd like to do on the device.

I think vim has rectangular selection, though I forget how to do it :)

Edit: Confirmed. Ctrl-V selects columns.

Thanks, I'll have a look at vim and emacs, although I was hoping for something with a GUI! Has anyone ported nedit to N900?

GNU Emacs has a GUI, but can also be started without one, even on maemo (the version of vim on maemo does however not come with a GUI).
