searching in media streams
I have TVersity set-up on my Windows PC. Streams do work but i cannot seek. Is there any workaround? I used to be able to do that on my Omnia II.

Which client do you use?

Re: searching in media streams
Forgot to mention... I use the default Media Player on the N900. I dont mind using another client as long as it has this function.

Re: searching in media streams
I have the same issues when I stream videos over the network. I'm also using the built in player but also tried VLC player with no luck

Re: searching in media streams
I prefer to use mplayer for all my video needs. mplayer offers simple ways to search in streams, as in stepping forward or backwards in the stream.
But, being able to do that is, as far as I know, dependant on the format that the stream is presented in. Unless the stream offers an index to step in, seeking isn't possible. mplayer handles this with a flag, -idx I think, and it creates an index, on the fly, to let it move in the stream. So, the first step might be to have a look at what kind of streams you're publishing and fiddle around with that a bit to see if it changes anything. |
