Reading/replying to texts via terminal over SSH
I quite often have my phone plugged into my hifi, which is on the other side of my room, and I always have a constant SSH connection to the tablet; If I receive a text it means having to move, I'm lazy.
I would love a way for me to be able to read and respond to texts when I'm logged into my device over SSH via the terminal. I've done some digging but it appears they are stored in an sql database (correct?); my databasing knowledge is somewhat lacking. I suppose VNC could be an option, but I'm looking for a purely text based method, using the terminal. Is there a way currently to do this, if not could some one point me in the right direction. Cheers. |
Re: Reading/replying to texts via terminal over SSH
I do not know of a way to read from the contacts list or current text but there is a thread where sms (text) can be sent and received from the command line. search for "sms from cli".
the downside to this is that it currently has to be set to listen for text. you cannot read the database of your received text. at least not with what you find in that thread. |

Re: Reading/replying to texts via terminal over SSH
I use x11vnc to control my N900 from my laptop.
Here is a tutorial from someone else: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/X11vnc_on_Maemo It is a bit old and you should not try the step with reconfiguring the X-server. Code:
# on the N900 I only did this via USB-networking. Here is a video, how you also can get remote sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvKw8Dm5I_8 |
