Anti-Aircraft Laser
I thought this was interesting from the BBC:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10682693 Here's part of the article -- The Laser Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) can either be used on its own or alongside a gunnery system. In May, the laser was used to shoot down unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a series of tests. Raytheon said the solid state fibre laser produces a 50 kilowatt beam and can be used against UAV, mortar, rockets and small surface ships. |
Re: Anti-Aircraft Laser
So instead of killing civilians with drones, the US can now shoot them with lasers?

Re: Anti-Aircraft Laser
Well, I don't get the impression these lasers can be used against people on the ground, but there's always hope for progress in the future.
I don't think the US focuses on killing civilians. If it did, a nuke or two would do wonders. |
Re: Anti-Aircraft Laser
