easyDebian xmodmap woes
I thought I knew how xmodmap works, but it is giving me trouble:
Fn + udiaeresis (and other Fn + accented characters) do not work. Here is some part of xmodmap user@Nokia-N810-43-7:~/easyDebian$ echo $DISPLAY :1.0 user@Nokia-N810-43-7:~/easyDebian$ xmodmap -pke | egrep 'apost|diae' keycode 20 = adiaeresis Adiaeresis apostrophe apostrophe apostrophe apostrophe keycode 24 = q Q 1 2 apostrophe 4 keycode 47 = odiaeresis Odiaeresis equal equal equal equal keycode 48 = udiaeresis Udiaeresis question question question question You see I hacked the "q" key, to see what's happening. Pressing Fn+q gives me an apostrophe, but pressing Fn+ä gives me just a plain ä. Xev shows me KeyPress event, serial 39, synthetic NO, window 0x1200001, root 0x3c, subw 0x1200002, time 102980231, (45,33), root: (80,264), state 0x80, keycode 20 (keysym 0xe4, adiaeresis), same_screen YES, It seems that there is something magical about the accented chars, but I have no idea what. Does anybody have an idea? |
