Response from europe.nokia.com

"The SO runs on a Maemo 5 platform and the current version of the Adobe flash player that the N900 uses is version 9. For updates regarding these, we are still waiting for our developement team's official statement on this and as soon as it is already available, we will definitely inform the users either through the nokia website or through maemo.org."

good news or bad?
that means it'll take a while but it'll be out right?

Hi "",

Thank you for e-mailing the Nokia Care Contact Center.

Based on your concern, the N900 is uses a Linux based operating system which is entirely new to what other Nokia devices have used before which was Symbian based. With this said, we are still in the process of developing the said software in order to provide if not all, but more than what our previous devices are offering. The SO runs on a Maemo 5 platform and the current version of the Adobe flash player that the N900 uses is version 9. For updates regarding these, we are still waiting for our developement team's official statement on this and as soon as it is already available, we will definitely inform the users either through the nokia website or through maemo.org.

With Maemo 5 we prioritized development of those areas that we felt would be the most important for the target audience of this device. This means that Maemo does not yet feature support for the full range of services that our other Symbian-powered Nseries devices might have. However, naturally, we’ll be working to increase support for all Nokia services, including those that you have mentioned, as we go forward with Maemo.

I hope the information provided proves useful.

If you have any additional question, please don't hesitate to contact us again. To ensure proper handling of your case, kindly continue using the current subject line.

Thank you very much for your email. Have a great day.

as far as i'm proud to admit, nokia has never given satisfactory support to any of its consumers or old products.. as soon as a new product comes along, the old ones are completely forgotten..
happened to 5800 with the scrolling issue and random freezes and now n900..
ok sure.. missing features like ussd.. but heck?
say callers name?
thats a primitive feature present in almost every mobile phone..
sure it took u almost 3 months to fix the ussd along with several bugs but why call off product support?
isn't nokia working with other companies for meego development?
why cant nokia itself take official part in the development for the drivers of the closed components? what about flash 10?
is it ever coming?
maemo 6?
does this happen to all of your products?
i've personally have had many issues with the 5800.. and i've seen others with n97 have issues too.. and n81? the camera issue? "feature not supported?"
and n900 has violated privacy with the "my nokia" service which is not needed by many and sends an international text message without permission of the owner and own his own expense..
and sure, your reply is going to be "will be fixed in next firmware".. plz.. do tell.. how many years do i have to wait for that new firmware?
and why is the n900 soo laggy?
everyone has overclocked the device up to 1000mhz.. why cant that be official? till now, no one has had issues with it..
why cant the builtin media player stream from youtube?
why is the community working at features like host mode without nokia's contribution?
wont the precess speed up if the professions play a role?
why is nokia's one of the best smart phones missing voice navigation?
why can others make 3rd party softwares to introduce missing features which work rather then nokia officially bringing them with the firmware itself?
and facebook? why not msn or yahoo?
sure i can install external plugins but then i'll have to sync all the contacts all over again..
and arent msn and yahoo only as popular as facebook chat?
i'd love to see your reply..
its interesting to see how someone can lack dignity like that..

The email that you got is a copy paste template, there is noting new in that message. Development team working on Maemo? give me a break they are either fired or working on MeeGo

Dont get your hopes high , Maemo 5 is dead , wait for community porting of MeeGo

wikipedia says "While transition to the succeeding MeeGo operating system is possible, this is mainly of interest to developers rather than consumers, as it not officially supported by Nokia." at the bottom page of n900
so this means its gonna be like ntdroid?
no dsp or phone?

Re: Response from europe.nokia.com

No that means community will try to build a MeeGo release for N900 using open source content from MeeGo , Ntroid is just a nice bonus made possible by passionate people who want to see Android on N900 , if they have enough time phone , dsp everything pretty much will work

also keep in mind the new flagship wont be 100% MeeGo , it is a hybrid Maemo6 ( Harmatan) / MeeGo

come on. Maemo 5 was a step to the final product, not the final product itself. just go under your blanket and cry because you have made the worst call in your near history...

Based on your concern, the n900 uses linux? Does that mean if someone else writes in then based on their concern the n900 could actually be running iOS or Windows Mobile?

Who the hell writes these messages?
