Re: Location & Navigation Apps Voting Thread [N900 Coding Competition]
Application name: Advanced Geocaching Tool (new features)
Author: webhamster Description: AGTL, the all-in-one solution for on- and offline geocaching, makes geocaching paperless! It downloads geocaches including their description, hints, difficulty levels and images. No premium account needed. Searching for caches in your local db is a matter of seconds. • Map view - supporting Open Street Maps and Open Cycle Maps by default, configurable for other map types, including google maps. • GPS view - shows the distance and direction to the selected geocache. • Cache details - all necessary details are available even in offline mode. • Paperless geocaching features - take notes for a geocache on the go, see the hints and spoiler images, check the latest logs. • Fieldnotes support - Ever came home after a long tour and wondered which of those geocaches you found? Never again: Log your find in the field and upload notes and log text when you're at home. Review them on the geocaching website and post the logs. • Text-to-Speech-Feature! - Select a target, activate TTS and put your earplugs in to enjoy completely stealth geocaching. • Download map tiles for selected zoom levels - for offline use • Multicache calculation help - Let your phone do the math for you. Working for the most multi-stage geocaches, AGTL finds the coordinate calculations and let you enter the missing variables. • Advanced waypoint handling - AGTL finds waypoints in the geocache descriptions, in the list of waypoints and even in your notes. For your convenience, they're displayed on the map as well - see where you have to go next. • Search for cities - in the geonames.org database to navigate quickly • Sun compass - Compensates the lack of a magnetic compass • Instant update feature - Follow web site updates as soon as possible. First alpha release is very limited in function but it still may be of use for someone. It allows exploring "OpenStreetMap I" map (it shares tiles with Maep and possibly others) but future versions will allow other map sources. It can show / follow your current location. Planned features include searching and routing using CloudeMade services, portrait mode and more. This project aims to provide great user experience - no more lags or delays This release easily works with over 50 frames per second on my N900. Future versions should be even more optimized than current one. Re: Location & Navigation Apps Voting Thread [N900 Coding Competition]
I've released Version 0.7.0.2 of the Advanced Geocaching Tool, which fixes three bugs:
- downloading of virtual geocaches - python-hildon dependency (lists not clickable) - python-dbus dependency (application crashing on startup) |

Re: Location & Navigation Apps Voting Thread [N900 Coding Competition]
Congratulations to all!
I couldn't find libgles1 so I couldn't install CloudGPS, and I voted for modRana as having comfortable interface and many features, including logging, (though some small bugs also). My city doesn't have the underground, so I couldn't vote for MetroMap. And Libellule needs Internet, doesn't it? I cannot spin Wi-Fi out of thin air. |
