Trouble: Read-only when connected to PC
Hi I'm heaving trouble connecting my N900 to PC (Windows or Linux PC)
If I want to copy a file from the PC to the N900 it always says it's in read only mode. When I connect to the PC, the N900 says it's in read-only mode. Does anyone know how to fix this? Seems to me that the filesystem is corrupt somehow. I've found a thread on the internet where to do a fsck before mounting at boot but the explanation is not clear enough, I don't want to brick my phone :-). Thanks for the help Greetings Wannes |

May be the next command in terminal mode help you?
# sudo gainroot # fsck.vfat -a /dev/mmcblk0p1 |

Don't think you wanna perform an fsck on a mounted filesystem... @Wannes: could you provide the link and tell us what step you don't understand? |
Re: Trouble: Read-only when connected to PC
In meanwhile i tried this:
sudo gainroot umount /dev/mmcblk0p1 fsck.vfat -f /dev/mmcblk0p1 that says: reclaimed 52 unused clusters ... free cluster summary wrong 1) correct 2) correct 1 (I typed one) checked clusters 140397 leaving filesystem unchanged ... more feedback from terminal reboot now It changes nothing at all ... I took out the sd-card and did it again. somewhere o the internet I found to remount Mydocs as rw and touch a test file. that works but only as root. |

BUMP
Still doesn't work ... Is there any option to reflash it entirely? It's really annoying to have a 32GB phone which is read only!! |
Re: Trouble: Read-only when connected to PC
you can format the n900 or memory card memory right on the phone. it helped me before. In the file manager, tap and hold "nokia n900" til you see format n900. tap it and shazaam.

You're the greatest!!!! (EVER!!!).
It wasn't the memory card but the internal memory. I formatted that and I can make pictures again. This evening I'm going to try to copy files to the hd from my linux box and if that's fixed everything's fine again. |
