Why does the maemo browser do this, and is there a fix?
 
When loading a page or going to another page, the maemo browser (microb) does this for a while before loading pages:

andway when i type and address or click a link it does this

for a while

then loads the page quickly


why does microb do this, and is there a fix??

the browser doesnt actually do anything while its doing this until finally it gets in gear and the page loads like instant.

for example nitdroid browser doesnt do this, it just gets to the loading of the page, however maemo browser is superior in every way except for this small annoyance.

so, what IS the browser doing here?

it should but it slightly slower than other web browsers. It takes quite some time to seek for the return packets while other browsers on iPhone, and android takes less time to communicate to the server.

May be it is because of MicroB is based on Mozilla that's why.

I think MicroB is too micro to get off his courch and jump on a TCP bus to go and shop for the site ordered by its master. I got a love hate relationship with MicroB lol. Sometimes I smack my phone when it freeze during loading pages until it reload again. Gosh this relationship will never work out if it wasn't for the smacking part.

As long as the page is loaded, it's much more acceptable than when it does that forever and still never loads a thing despite the connection is there and everything else can use it - IMs, Mozilla, Modest etcs. killall browserd has often come to rescue for me :(.

I noticed the same thing, but do you have adblock installed, some sites have heavy flash ads and that can contribute to this problem.

I do not see the illustrated behavior on my N900. I use the stock browser but do not know if that is the microB browser but suspect it is.

I am presented with a white screen during page loads and, as you indicate, the page usually jumps onto the screen as a whole. Rarely I get a fine grid when the page is downloading.

My cache is set to 5 MB, everyrthing else is fairly stock.

I can see how having a directory tree popping in to say hello with every page would be annoying.
