P.S. I am away from home in Greece, there I have no external DVD drive, no xp CD. recovery partiton is deleted, system restore is disabled, so there is noo way I can get those xp running... my best try is to get linux on my netbook using N900 as memory card reader in mass storage mode...

I suspect you'd have to unpack the .iso to MyDocs/, and then I'm not sure how to make it bootable...
Anyone know what it takes, if anything, to make it bootable? |

Re: PC no more boots XP, no DVD drive no usb stick. Help me to boot from N900
you need a card reader, not sure if that works
format your sd card with fat32 or ext3, download GRUB or GRUB for DOS, install GRUB on the card, than make your PC boot from USB whit the card reader, if you have XP install but can not boot, GRUB can find that partition and boot with the XP with this: Code:
title Load ntldr or you can find some bootable image on internet something like WinPE and boot with GRUB for DOS |
Re: PC no more boots XP, no DVD drive no usb stick. Help me to boot from N900
If your pc can boot from network you can setup a pxe boot server on your n900. i did it some months ago to install the lucid beta on my netbook.
Unfortunately i have bricked my n900 and didn't backup the files. :( Edit: Cool, i had a look again and the files are still there actually! Just tell me if you want a tar of the pxe server - i can put it on a server for you. It has FreeBSD 8.0, a pre final version of Ubuntu 10.04, memtest and clonezilla included. You would have to extract a newer ubuntu iso into the pxe root and fire up dnsmasq as dhcp and tftp daemon. |

Download Unetbootin and install the iso on a Flash Memory.

Re: PC no more boots XP, no DVD drive no usb stick. Help me to boot from N900
Thanks for all the aswers, but the deal is that there is no friend with a PC or internet cafe. I am alone with nonworking netbook and my N900. I coud get access to PC only on monday at work but I NEED IT NOW. Is there a solution that involves N900 2GB card and an USB cable? Is there a way to make SD bootable using N900?
