Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
Does anybody have more information about this Engadget story?
Enso whips up two smartphones and three new slates, but we wouldn't order any of 'em The zenPhone runs Maemo 5 (4?). I would love to know more details, specially if we are able to play with it like we can with the NIT's, e.g. replacing the kernel and system, and maybe one day installing MeeGo on it. |
Re: Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
It looks like Maemo4 to me.

Re: Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
Okay, if the ZenPhone runs Maemo 5, then why does the screenshot look so very different from mine?
Edit: I see someone already answered my question. |

Re: Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
according to the official webpage, it is maemo 5... but well enso is known for promising stuff they dont actually have... like the zenpad with android 2.1...
http://enso-now.com/zenPhone http://enso-now.com/zenPhonegallery i think it is a skinned windows CE nothing more... |
Re: Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
It doesn't look like any maemo to me. Just by looking top right corner you see a different battery meter, the 3G with the X over it, and a minimize button that you don't see in maemo. Also, the top right corner has a start where it should be a grid. Looks more like a windows CE skin than maemo.

Re: Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
It's a heavily modded Maemo4. You can tell by the Google search widget which looks exactly like the one from Maemo4.
Several other screenshots from earlier Chinese MIDs were showing a modded Maemo4 similar to this. |
Re: Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
Yes, I remember a video from a Chinese tablet earlier this year running Maemo that looked a lot like this, without the left side menu bar...

Re: Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
They fixed a couple of things in the zenPhone page. It runs Maemo 4 in fact, and its size is a little larger than an N800. It's like a larger N800 with a better processor, GPS and camera...

Re: Enso zenPhone runs Maemo.
basically, its the open source parts of maemo4 with replacements for the closed source parts (like say MCE). And as its probably only going to be sold in china, they can give nokia the middle finger over any trademark issues related to the maemo name.
