Help me decide
Yes, it's another one of these threads :p
Here's my situation. I loved me N95, but recently thanks to my car door shutting and my phone falling out of my pocket at the same time, it's now smashed into little pieces. So, now I'm stuck on with my t-mobile G1 with the 1.6 android OS. I'm not a fan of this very slow phone. I'm truly torn. I'm on T-mobile, so options for a great phone are limited. But at the same time, I'm not sure if I'm sold on the N8 or even the N900, which would work with t-mo 3G. If you have other suggestions for a different phone, please feel free to let me know. I'm kinda interested in the samsung galaxy S but it's definitely too iphone-ish for me. Anyways, back to the N900... I love to tinker, I'm ok with linux, not great...but from what I've read recently, the video recording stutter problem is kind of a concern for me. I loved to take pictures and videos with my N95. I have some questions about the n900 that I can't seem to get a clear answer on: First the touch screen, does it physically allow for multiple touches at the same time and it's just a software issue that doesn't currently allow it? I've also read that the touch screen for the N8 will be different than the one for the n900. Will this touch screen allow for that same feel you get with an iphone or G1 where you can scroll by just a slight brush of the finger? Second, I seen to get the portrait mode you have to take a series of steps to activate it through a bug in the phone; has there been an app released to auto start that bug from boot? I'd definitely need portrait mode. Lastly, will Meego(final version) be able to be installed on this phone? Thanks |
Re: Help me decide
If you need portrait mode, the N900 is not really for you. And the touch screen doesn't work with multiple fingers. The browsing experience is great though, maybe not as smooth as iPhone(might be due to the N900 having flash) though.

Re: Help me decide
Yeah the portrait mode is not fully implemented. Though its not a bug anymore, PR1.2 software update added it as a feature.
and just like Toja92 said, touchscreen cannot work with multi touch (physically) though I really like zooming in n out of the web pages using the volume button |
Re: Help me decide
Okay, are there similar phones that you all would suggest that would work with t-mo 3g? I like the android OS, just not the G1
