How to extract/save .deb file during/post installation

Is there any way to save the .deb package during or after installation from Application Manager in N900?

This is being looked into at present mate by another member. Hitting a few hurdles currently, am sure once sorted he will post for all.
I was looking for the same to save reinstalling all the apps after a restore and chewing data.

OK, I'll keep my eyes open for any updates.

The Application Manager cleans it after every install/upgrade/removal, IIRC.

If they are stored in some location like /var/cache/apt/archives? etc
can't we create a script or something to copy the contents of that folder while the application manager is running/installing.

I have done this in windows, some applications come with online installers (for example adobe).
During installation they store the installer to a windows temp folders. I have been able to copy installer files even if they were locked.

He was looking at exactly that though hitting hurdles.
He is now looking at the lists you get from restore and trying to tackle that way I think. If others have suggestions and able to produce something, all ears. I would to assist though way out of my depths here with no idea at all.
I was just wanting to be able to save my files so each time I restore I'm not chewing data, can just reload my copies.

Regards to this, as far as i can tell. The only files left stored here are the ones via apt-get. Unless they are stored elsewhere, it would seem they are erased.

Ovi Store paid debs: /var/tmp
Other debs: /home/user/MyDocs/.apt-archive-cache
debs installed through apt-get: /var/cache/apt/archives
