pointers for cheaper N800 batteries anyone?

Hi,

I am doing so much stuff with my N800 all day long that I am going to drain its battery pretty fast. Does anyone here have a good source for cheaper batteries for the N800? Either discounted Nokia batteries or good quality non-Nokia batteries?

Thanks for any pointers,

VS

Most of the batteries that I have seen have less power, so stay away from those. There have been reports of internal batteries exploding if they are not Nokia batteries. I use the Proporta USB mobile device charger. It gives about 300% extra battery life at 3400mAh. Combined, that's 4900mAh which will last quite a long time. It is external, but it is much smaller than the internet tablet itself. I am yet to have a problem with it.

I have had extremely good luck buying stuff from Hong Kong via eBay, including two N800 batteries and a charger. I like buying from Hong Kong and I trust purchases from there.

I bought the cheapest battery possible off EBay a year ago. Many people told me to watch out; This battery was wrapped in white cardboard, cost about 12 dollars, and has worked flawlessly since I bought it, on regular charges.

I imagine if it broke, it would cause troubles. I don't know of any actual cases in which a 770 battery (or replacements) have broken and damaged or destroyed the device. It is soft on one side, but I don't know how long it was soft like this, and has been this way for at least 4 months of constant use.

I think it lasts longer than my original battery, certainly at least as long as the original battery. It is 1300 size. I bought it from Hong Kong. Superstitious, I don't put it in my N800.

Not telling you what to do, just relaying my experience with a cheap-o battery.

I am all for the cheap-o battery, provided it meet two criteria:

1) somebody else used it on a N800 without problems
2) there is a weblink to where I can get it

Any suggestions?

Kind regards,

I think that if you go on ebay and search for bp-5l the company calling itself t-dimension is the one I dealt with.

Is it possible to charge the N800 through the USB port then. I read somewhere that it didn't work.

I don't get it. Are you referring to this? I ask this because this device charges through the USB port which the N800 cannot do, I think, so how does this thing work? Does it come with a connector which fits to the charger port on the N800?
