Samsung Galaxy S sells 800,000 in South Korea on Sk Telecom and Will Now Sell a Cute White Version

Wow this is quite surprising Samsung has already sold 800,000 Galaxy s's in a market where your lucky to sell 100,000-200,000 units source here http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2010/0...n-south-korea/ and http://www.devicemag.com/2010/08/18/...-reach-europe/. Samsung will create a white version for South Korea I hope I can get one here http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2010/0...xy-s-in-white/. Wow such good sales for such a small country in only 2 months and yet the Nokia n900 only 100,000 6 months.

Oh dear not again. Are these same people who think that Google Nexus one was big fail because of sail figures.

What kind of education people here have? Do you guys read anything else than Blog comments?

.edit
And FYI all Nokia personnels whom i have talked underestimated demand and sales of N900. Maybe because it was not supposed to be marketed as it was. First batch went in record time :|

..edit
Saling that much stuff in south-korea (Samsungs home country) is not too surprising, but itīs well indeed. Samsung will get nice sell figures with that phone in many countries. I do not doubt that.

I wonder wouldn't both Samsung Galaxy S and the Nokia n900 would be both considered devices for people who are early adopters want the best hardware available? There really hasn't been much marketing for either device I have seen ad for the Galaxy S but they really aren't that great.

N900 Does not have currently or did have any competitors. Itīs way too niche devices and there is no IMO competition. There is this uber geek open source device N900 and then there is all the other devices.

Actually not necessarily the HTC Hd2 fits the bill when it comes to a hackable geek device sure it doesn't have Linux but Windows Mobile is very hackable and has much community support from Xda Developers.

you could search on youtube if you wanna see more, it's pretty nice, you can even make calls on ubuntu, but the sound is a work in progress.

I mean sure the Galaxy S isn't a portable Unix box but is pretty cutting edge when it comes to processor, gpu, Codec Support, Connectivity, Camera, Video playback, and screen. While for some it may not have everything that every feature imaginable I do think does appeal to geeks and power users.

Gee, Samsung sells 800,000 into the Korean market, one that even Apple had a hard time getting into. Go figure.

Linux is the major reason I bought the N900 despite the HD2 being available. Windows Mobile isn't nearly as hackable, and the things I've done with it would be impossible (due to its crap unicode handling.)

Notice that 3D is still completely broken due to the way Android requires custom user-space libraries for 3D that aren't at all compatible with Xorg.

I'm still amused at how many pro-Android posters still roll around us trying to suggest we're wrong for not using it, because all the other kids do. Or something.

you know, that samsung is a SOUTH KOREAN COMPANY?!??!?!?!
so no wonder that they are selling good at their home country.
that's why xbox 360 doesn't sell well in japan, and ps3 does (sony = japanese)

Hmm. There's merit to the whole "home country" and "home product" selling well banter above.

However... 800k isn't bad at all. Good numbers to start off with. I wonder when all of the Samsung Galaxy S variants are taken into count, which area will be the better selling area for them in the end?
