it did this on mine last week lll when it does work you will find out like me. your n900 will have the new flash versionl installed .

how long did it take mate? how can it update without connection. i only switched off cos it kinda crashed and as it does sometimes .. and it started coming up wif this message.

yes when I restarted my phone today It said installing software update but till now I didn't figure any changes and no flash is still version 9.

It took maximum of 1 sec not more and i think its a minor small update

well mine has been at it for few hours now ... dont know what to do. how can it update widout connection?

I think the download was done during the time you were inside the maemo
and now you are only installing. but I am sure that there is something wrong you have did. try removing the battery. Maybe this will help you get out of this update.

i have tried removing batter, it starts up and gives me same message repeatedly. I have removed battery and sim and its done the same.

this is a fantastic phone its working properly.

am about to look into reflashing it.

will it reflash if it didn't enter maemo?
