How to tether Meego netbook and N900 Meamo?

I have a netbook running Meego (Moblin). Anyone know how to tether with an N900? I have found instructions for Ubuntu, Mac and Windows, but they aren't similar.

Just install joiku spot on your n900 and do it wireless

Meego or Moblin, Bt or USB? With Meego and USB you can just plug it in, if i'm not mistaken (or was that in OpenSUSE?) hmmm.

I would rather not do it wirelessly (Joiku) due to battery drain. I was hoping to do it via USB but can't seem to even find a place for network settings other than for wifi / ethernet.

I believe you're thinking of Ubuntu, which automatically walks you through set up.

So no one is actually using the available Meego? Not a good sign I think.

I tried using Meego on my netbook, but it's just unbelievably useless and unpolished. I don't see the purpose of carrying around a netbook if it uses an operating system less functional than my phone's. I'd reccomend you switch to something like Jollicloud.

I think it probably was OpenSUSE, but I'm not sure as I have several linuxes installed, and it is some time since I tried. I haven't had any use for it.

I use Meego on my netbook. The main problem with meego is that it works out of the box only on a very limited amount of hw. This will not improve due to "closed" drivers. I have to recompile the wifi drivers for every update of the kernel, and after a few times it gets boring. The sole purpose of Meego is for Intel to sell Intel hw without MS leeching the profit. When you get a new netbook with Meego installed, the manufactorer supplies all the closed drivers they want, but when installing Meego yourself, you bettr have pure intel hw, or you will have to compile the drivers yourself. In most popular linuxes, closed drivers are included in the distro, except for a few open source fanatics distros.

Probably better to look in the Meego and OpenSUSE forums.

I would definately post this on http://forum.meego.com to get a good answer...

i've tried both USB and JoilkuSpot for tethering on MeeGo, both FAIL. the connectivity issue has been reported in the bug jar, might get attention if the bug gets enough "votes"; for now, it looks like MeeGo will be limited to wifi only.

reading the forum, HW compatibility is a major issue for many users, software issues seem not far behind. a biggie for me is lack of Java on MeeGo as I absolutely must have it to access a jurassic SABRE (think DOS) applet that runs on Java.

so, if i'm bored and want to browse the latest on spacebook, titter, or myface, i'll boot up MeeGo, but if i really need sh*t to get done, it's Ubuntu.

Thanks for letting me know that even Joiku Spot has problems with Meego.
I have an MSI Wind and it seems to work very well as far as hardware goes. But I had already replaced the wireless card even before trying Meego. I had never even noticed the lack of Java.

I like Meego (and Moblin before it) because it's very snappy and easy to navigate. Sometimes I like having a simple machine with few distractions. I don't use the social crap, but I installed Abiword and Gimp on it, and do most of what I need with those. Other things are handled by my N900. But an inability to tether may force me back to Ubuntu.
