PackRat - how to find the repository for any Maemo App
2 Attachment(s)
I've found this online app to be rather useful when finding out 'where did that app come from'.
Site: http://ageofikon.info/packrat/ Example, I search for "Dialcentral" and the next page shows me the entries it can find and clicking on them will show what repositories they reside in. (Sorry for crud screenshots). |

Also, I can target my search to one OS version (OS2008 for instance) which is useful when doing a more wide search for, say, "clock". If type in "Clock" in the maemo.org link I get a plain list of apps without stating what OS version they are for - compare that to a targeted search using PackRat. I can also, if I want, search just within a certain repository. The maemo.org/packages option is good to have but I sure wouldn't call it "KISS" as it's rather horrendous in both presentation and UI. |
