Not Space - Must have more apps :(

I am running out of space for Applications and Games... I just had to uninstall Wargus II, is there anyway to redirect the files that PrBoom, Quake 2, Duke Nukem 3D use? OpenArena is taking up 300MB alone... I need help...

I've just re-flashed my device using a modified eMMC image. I now have 8GB /home (/opt) partition (the extra space on /home are taken from the MyDocs partition).

Create a backup, move it off Your device and re-flash using a modified eMMC image.

!! You have to flash using both images - combined and eMMC !!

I can't distribute the image, but You can edit it Yourself using a Hex editor. More info here.

Code:

N900:~# df -h /home
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mmcblk0p2        7,9G  2,2G  5,3G  30% /home

This is how it looks in "Hex Editor" (on Ubuntu):

Attachment 13657

Change from 2048 to anything up to 9999.

Thank you - is there anyway to do this without wiping out the device?

Not AFAIK... I've had the N900 since December and only re-flashed it twice. When PR1.2 came out and I thought I'd give it a "fresh start", and now because I wanted more space in /home.

I haven't tried myself, but I believe it should be possible to move certain directories from /home or /opt into /home/user/MyDocs and make symlinks pointing to the latter, as long as those directories don't contain executables or other symlinks, which the FAT of MyDocs would not support.

I didn't want to maintain various symlinks so I went with the modified eMMC image instead. I had like 25GB free space in MyDocs anyway... ;)

8GB in /home should be fine for now... ;)

Could you go into more detail? Most of my space is being taken up by games such as Quake 3 (300MB), Quake 2 (175MB), etc.

Thought about that too, but I've never hit the limit... :) Have You? :D

EDIT -> I actually thought about increasing it to 1024MB just because it's a nicer number... (4x256) :D

Well yes and no.. its complicated:D (When swap starts to get full.. like more then 50% then device runs abit slower) so I wanted to give it more head room so hopefully it wont pass 30%:D I pushed it a little beyond that... We'll see how it behave when I redo all my tweeks.

thanks again
