How to fix half-installed Application?
I tried to install ZSH (Z Shell) using the Application Manager however it the App Manager hung mid-way. Now ZSH is half-installed. It says it's updateable but when I try to upgrade it, it still fails. I cannot remove it either.
I've tried apt-get and it doesn't remove or upgrade or install. How can I fix this now? Luke |
Re: How to fix half-installed Application?
Try 'apt-get install -f'.
Cheers. |
Re: How to fix half-installed Application?
Someone should get rid of zsh, or fix it. As is, it's just a trap; I don't know who it works for.

Re: How to fix half-installed Application?
Dont even try to reinstall zsh..... zsh is broken just remove it...

Re: How to fix half-installed Application?
How to remove it? It doesn't want to be removed. Says that it's badly broken and advises me to reinstall it.
But reinstalling and upgrading both don't work. |

Could this help?

Re: How to fix half-installed Application?
I guess that it would be mean to ask why it's out there if it causes problems for 770 and 800 users. Who benefits from its being available? Why isn't it removed till it's fixed? It has obviously been reported as a problem many times.

Re: How to fix half-installed Application?
Nope, the steps taken
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ighlight=purge Do not help me at all. Stupid ZSH is still around and I cannot remove it! I can say for certain, that a normal user would have given up by now and start to hate the N800. I will continue to try removing the file, but I need more help! Luke |
Re: How to fix half-installed Application?
My memory is a bit hazy, but i deleted all the files that had zsh in their names, and then when I ran Application Manager I got a message saying that zsh didn't exist, would I like to delete it from the catalog, and I answered yes. Something like that. If that doesn't work for you, I give up.

Re: How to fix half-installed Application?
OK, I managed to get it removed!
Whew sudo gainroot cd /var/lib/dpkg/ mv status status.bad cp status-old status then apt-get clean apt-get update apt-get install zsh which will hang...close Xterm Open and sudo gainroot again dpkg --configure -a 1) Go to /var/lib/dpkg/info 2) edit zsh.postrm. There are two lines in the script that cause problems: a) remove-shell /bin/zsh b) remove-shell /usr/bin/zsh apt-get remove zsh Did whatever was left in http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ighlight=purge That was indeed a crappy experience!!
