Thank you Maemo, I bid thee farewell.
Well, the time has come. I'm making one of those dreaded "I'm leaving nokia" posts that we all love to hate.
My N900 USB has failed again, which means I'll be on to yet another handset (my 4th). My first one lasted about 7 months until the USB gave out, the second lasted 3 weeks before the entire usb thing came out attached to the charged and now 3 weeks after I got my replacement, it's not charging. I've emailed Nokia, complained and asked for a refund of the current value of the phone (£389 on nokias site), it's doubtful I'll get it, but it's worth a try. I'm being forced to look elsewhere. I don't like Symbian at all and theres no other Nokia I'd have. The frustration and Nokia's poor design have left me with no option to head to Android. (gasp!) Apart from the obvious issues, I've never had any problem with my N900, I've loved it and enjoyed doing things to it and with it no phone could imagine, thrust it in to "who's got the best phone" arguments with countless Iphone drones and wow'd plenty of people by hooking it up to a huge TV and playing a bit of Street Fighter 2 with a PS3 controller. I don't have a bad word to say like most people seem to when they make these posts, I've got no gripes with the OS, the apps, or anything except for the fact that on 3 occasions now, my phone has succumbed to the fate of a broken USB port. So thanks to everyone on Maemo.org, fralz for FMMS (allowing myself and many other men to recieve nice pictures from their often naked girlfriends :P), to the guys behind nitDroid, the power kernel guys, the Mypaint guys and all the other people that've helped keep Maemo alive. I'm sure we'll all meet again some day. |
Re: Thank you Maemo, I bid thee farewell.
At last, a respectable "bowing out" post. Good luck with android.

I bent the male end of the usb charger and it literally slides in and out with almost no friction. I think thats helped my n900 survive for the 9 months its been alive.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Hey someone has to keep the streak alive of castigating soon to be ex n900 users with that phrase. |
Re: Thank you Maemo, I bid thee farewell.
i came out with a solution with mine, i filed the 2 fangs of the male down to half with a sandpaper. now it goes in and out without harmful resistance.
