Question on T-Mobile 3G settings ( USA) - resolved

Hi,

I live in USA and have a data plan with T-Mobile.

My internet seems to be very very slow. Do anyone experience this problem and also anyone know the correct settings to get the good speed.

Regards,

RR

Where do you live? Do you even have 3G or 3.5G where you live? My N900 recognized from my sim the settings and I had nothing to do to get 3.5G where I live.

Oh dont even talk about T-mobile and 3G data speeds.

Where I live - I get good 3G speeds but when I am cummuting to NY via NJTransit - half way down and biff - everything is only 2.5G and extremely slow.

So the period when I need my 3G connection the most - on the road - I dont get it.

In NYC I am in a tall building (who isn't :-) and T-Mobile sucks here.
I dont get any signal inside my building - no signal - not even voice.
I have to walk down to the street level to even talk or check my personal emails.

I am ready to give up on T-Mobile (and hence on N900) and move onto some CDMA service and CDMA phone out of sheer frustration.

i guess i am somewhat fortunate with my tmobile service having been in a 12 year long relationship with att. i get 3.5 in westchester where i live as well as in tampa where i travel quite often. coming down on the train it does get a little spotty on metro north but i can live with it as it does come back as i near the city. where i do haver some deep frustratyion is with the serv ice coming back up to speed wheni can check my messages and even male a call. with my n82 on att i was able to get right back online after a dropped signal where with the n900 it seems to take a lot loinger to get a full signal for even voice to lock in. overall though i am very happy with tmobile in fact i took advantage of the free phone for my son. free plan till 2010. check it out

Thanks ..... I live in Baltimore @ USA. Most of the time I get 2.5 and 3 or 3.5 sometime.

But even @ 3G or 3.5G my internet seems to be slow. I am wondering should i change my APN settings or something to make it better.

These are the APN that you could use
The fastest one: (24.99++)
APN: epc.tmobile.com

The slowest one: (9.99++)
Internet2.voicestream.com

I'm in Philly with this and I have 3.5G; speeds are decent when I have 4-5 bars but the connection is really spotty. If I go into an elevator it drops and I have to manually reconnect it when I get back out.

Idk if this a T-Mobile problem or just an N900 problem... The N900 really sucks with internet; one would think that with a mobile computer based device internet connectivity would be good but meh.

I dont know about right now but 6 months ago on the 24.99 plan (the talk,text and data) for 59.99 i was getting little bit under 1 mb for download on 3.5g, but now with the 9.99 i am getting aboce 1, near 2mb download and little over 1mb upload.

lol, who told you that the 24.99 is fastest one and 9.99 is the slowest one..
I had 24.99 a few months back and I switched to 9.99... there is almost no difference in speed at all.
