anyone here have the mediamax plan by cingular?
i was wondering how much of your data plan do you use? can you stream music? if you do this about 3 times a week, wont that add up to alot of bandwidth per month? the reason i ask is because cant they charge you if they think your use is not from a phone but from a pda/tablet device?
thanks |

i use the unlimited media package for $19.99 and it's great. CIngular 3g is really fast. I use it to stream Rhapsody on the way to work (30 min ride) and when I bike around town. I do not think that they would be against it since they offer a subscription for mobiTv and radio.

MediaMax plans specifically prohibit tethering in the terms and conditions that you agree to when to get the plan.
If you stream video's and music, you will certainly want the unlimited plan. You'll spend tons of money if you pay by the byte. |
Re: anyone here have the mediamax plan by cingular?
You are supposed to get the unlimited plan which is I think $45 if you want to tether devices. I have been using the 19.99 plan and have tethered on that without getting charged. I always make sure to keep my usage light in case they do decide to charge per kb, so its generally just checking email, or a quick web search.

Re: anyone here have the mediamax plan by cingular?
you are correct, you can use the $20 plan.
Cingular has 2 access points: wap.cingular and isp.cingular.. isp is for laptops, wap is for phones.. the only differnece is wap has NAT, ISP does not. if you connect to isp.cingular and you are on a $20 plan, THEN you will be charged per kb. otherwise as far as cingular is concerned, it is just your phone connecting, but connecting to WAP makes no differnece for us |

I've been using meda max (previously unlimited data) since October 2005 with no problems tethering to mac and pc clients, and now with the n800.
