What happened to demo games?

In the past companies would release freely distributable demos, that often delivered more than many full games do nowadays; and nowadays demos often aren't more than a 30 seconds TV spot that makes us pissed at the makers.

In Xbox 360 there are playable demos of most new games (xbox live)...

You're all wrong. N900 ovi store has more demos than real games....:D
