n900 after flashing!still contact and email ids there with all the files!
 

after flashing my n900 only diffrence i saw that the applications are uninstalled and the settings are defult.....no contact was deleted also my email ids saved in there.and the files are intact(images and video clips etc.in the file manager)

here is what in type in maemo falsher 3.5

"flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.004_PR_COMBINED_004_ARM.bin -f -R"

my n900 is an indian ver...i think the diffrence is (no skype there!also a folder named "more" is not in there)

i have flaseh my n900 three times only for geeting skype.and i found....

1> globle fiRX-51_2009SE_2.2009.51-1_.....bin .the sim was loked
there was a sim icon in the status(where network is shown) and a red line was on it indicated that sim is locked.

also it was taking tooo long in starting(it took 3-4min in starting not only first time but every time)

2> it was also globle and the latest one i forgot the name may be 1.3 problem was same there

3>RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.004_PR_COMBINED_004_ARM.bin This it is an indian one.and worked fine but no skype! also it takes 30-40 sec in starting

If you just flash only the eMMC , your contacts and my docs will not be removed I believe.

You need to full re flash means Vannila version and eMMC as given in the WIKI page. Then your device will be like new one with all default.

what does this code flash in flasher 3.5 "flasher-3.5 -F filename.bin -f -R"?

Umm, don't mislead the guy, Vanilla = eMMC
If you flash the COMBINED image, /home won't be altered (though /home/opt will), so your contacts will remain intact.

Flash the eMMC image if you want to clean /home

I also suggest you follow the wiki, maemofanatics or other blogs may not have up to date tutorials.

lol @nicholes thats ok.

The n900 has two storage slots,
1) rootfs, where the applications lives (256 mb aprox)
2) eMMC, where your personal data lives (32gb aprox)

usually, you only need to flash the rootfs, so your applications are gone, but your config and data survives

ok now if suppose i download "eMMC" image and reflash it again..will my sim be blocked again?as i have faced it with a globle ver..

will i get skype after that ???

your sim will only be blocked if you use a older fiasco image.
you can't go from pr1.2 to any other firmware down without sim problems.
