Flashlight bug leading to amazing batteru life after!!

Hi guys. Its my 1st post on here but ive owned my n900 for over 3 months and spent even longer browsing...so i thought id make my 1st contribution.

I use my n900 a lot as a flashlight because i work in dark environments. It was the 1st app i actually installed. Now ive been only getting 18 hours or so out of the phone with lots of help mentioned on here disable wifi etc but i still wasnt happy.

I noticed in conky lots of cpu spikes from 10% up 28% at times and on the battery logger graph it showed constantly spiking. At this point i set about uninstalling apps starting with the 1st. the flashlight.

The flashlight prog i had was flashlight and then i decided to install the flashlight-extra which auto uses the camera shutter. Now bare with me..on uninstalling these my spikes drop to 1-3% as apposed to 10%- 28%!! I was amazed how quicker my phone was and the battery time tripled!!...I did however still need a flashlight program so i installed the 1st one again..and yup the spikes returned even after i uninstalled it. To combat this i installed the flashlight-extra package again..and promptly uninstalled...and amazing my phone idle speed is 1-3% in use menus etc. It seems soo much smoother and responsive...even from when i 1st powered the phone!!

Hope this helps anyone out there

I don't know about flashlight but flashlight-extra uses an deamon that are always running in the background. We noticed this when we where trying to help a guy with his battery drainage..

There must be a better way of doing this... like a QBW that launches the flashlight dbus-call or something. But i think that is essentially what flashlight does...
