Hardware graphics acceleration on N810

I'd like to write games for Maemo/MeeGo platform. Using hardware acceleration on N900 is quite easy with Clutter, however Clutter is not available on N810.
Drawing with Gdk on a GtkDrawingArea is quite slow, even if I only update changed areas, to scroll i need to update full screen which seems impossible. I can't find any way to use hardware acceleration. I think the default browser has definitely some kind of hardware acceleration because scrolling isn't slow.

The browser isn't redrawing/rerndering contents for scrolling. It renders to an image which it then moves around and supplements when you scroll.. Roughly..

Liqbase probably shows best what n8x0 can do. It uses the yuv overlay for pushing pixels, as that gives a boost of factor of 2 in utilizing the limited bandwidth to the screen for pixelpushing.
