recalled N800 to make em Vista Compliant?!?!?
 

Ok, I was in Fry's with a friend in Wilsonville (oregon), she was thinking about picking up an N800. We didn't find one but we asked a sales person if they had any in stock or even sold them. The sales guy said they no longer carried them until nokia added Vista compliance. WTF?!?!?!

He said that they returned the ones in stock and Nokia would return them with a Vista add on pack. After i picked up my jaw off the floor, I asked him wtf would they do that? It's a linux based tablet. There is nothing Windows about it. Of course he had no clue and only knew what he was told.

Can anyone at Nokia or know more, elaborate on this or is it all BS?

The mere mention of Vista anything on my N800 made me feel nauseous.

DUDE! come on! it was a fry's drone you talked to...that should be your first clue that somethings wrong.

I think at best this is meant to mean Vista compliance for the flash program that loads the firmware onto the N800 for Windows. Or the guy was a frickin' idiot.

The N800 doesn't come with any in-box software CD, so there's nothing that needs to be changed in the box as it's all hardware! Even if the Windows flasher is not Vista compliant, that's a download issue from nokia.com/maemo.org.

Amazing!Actually, looks like n800 a bit over-popular so it is hard to buy it in certain areas of the world.But stupidity of sales is just amazing!Relax, Vista is not a center of the universe, it's just slow and bloated piece of code with DRM crap inside, trojan-horse-like updater capable of installing WGA spyware and more "funny" surprises.Looks like MS just managed to turn some ***** salesmans into their zombies :D

BTW, the Windows flash program was very recently updated. Not sure what, if anything, that meant for Vista.
