[SOLVED] Help with Power Kernel in PR 1.3

None of them seem to be critical so it should be safe to continue using power37 on PR1.3.
Just make sure to reinstall kernel-power after the PR1.3 upgrade
Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher

@bulelet:
it's "sudo kernel-config", not kernerl (an Austrian word...).

When I type that in I get
''E: could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 permission denied)
E: unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?''

Typing in xterminal ''sudo kernel-config *anything*'' gives a password prompt

(Edit: loading the backup file fixed the background problem)

Edit: Managed to reinstall it now, but it still asks for a password prompt

Hmmm... seems like rootsh is not loaded. I'd try installing/reinstalling that and then trying again.

The other approach, which is how I generally do things, is install OpenSSH Server and then connect in as root.

sudo gainroot
kernel-config load

then...type:

apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher

Odd, rootsh was uninstalled during the upgrade.
It's reinstalling just fine now, thanks :)

It still asks for a password prompt despite reinstalling successfully though

this mostly happens when the app manager is running in the background. or if you connect to internet and the app manager checks for updates.

in case this happens again just open the app manager and close it again. apt-get should work then.

Apt-get worked, my current problem is that if I type in "sudo kernel-config *w/e*" it asks for a password

If you are already root via a previous "sudo gainroot" command (ie you have a "#" prompt versus a "$" prompt"), you don't need to prepend your commands with another sudo. Just type the command as-is.

That fixed the password issue, although now whenever I type a command it replies with:

/bin/sh: kernel-config: not found

Edit:

"sudo gainroot
sudo kernel-config show"

doesn't do anything, it disregards the line and goes to a new one

:(

Are you sure kernel-power-settings is installed?

You may check by:
Code:

dpkg -l | grep kernel-power-settings
Otherwise, you'd like to install it:

Code:

root
apt-get install kernel-power-settings

Re: Help with Power Kernel in PR 1.3

It's installed, I used both that and uname -r

Edit: even though it's installed I still found it in the app manager

Edit Reinstalling power-settings-kernel and rootsh and reebooting fixed all of the issues :D
Turns out some stuff was lost during the update and I didn't restore from the backup properly. I checked now and it turns out I was OC'd the entire time but I couldn't access the settings.

Anyways, thanks guys!
